Masters in Arts and Crafts

So what do you do with a Masters in Speech Language Pathology you ask. . .why make board games of course. Tonight I couldn't get the scoop with everyone until I finished my "homework." My little funk has really caused me to be a bit of a slacker, so I had to get busy tonight. Side note: Please pay no attention to the blue poster board. It was a first draft and will be thrown in the garbage shortly.

Meanwhile, I have to be going. . .the dog trainer (shhh. . .don't tell TD) is coming tomorrow and the house needs to not look like a teenager posing as an adult lives in it. Off to do the dishes and clean up my homework.

PS -- Farmboy is out of town this weekend and I'm hitting up the fall festivals with my Mom. Ahh I do love fall. . .can't wait to share with you!

Happy Monday y'all!

Well Shucks. . .

I just received You're a Gem! award from Southern Savvy. This award truly is the sweetest compliment I've had since I started blogging. If you haven't stopped by Southern Savvy's part of the blog world, you should. Southern Savvy is one of the first blogs I started following (I relate so much to her!) and I'm always excited when I see updates from her on my dashboard! Plus, she is a fellow Floridian who loves the South, just like yours truly.

The You're a Gem! award is for the special bloggers who take the time not only to read my posts, but also leave comments, respond to comments, form blog friendships with and support others, answer blogger questions, etc. . . . the ones who are "a real gem" in the bloggy world! The bloggy world wouldn't be the same without you! The only rule for this award is to accept it, display it proudly on your blog for all the bloggy world to see your greatness, and/or pass it on to other bloggers as you see fit. So, to the following bloggers I say, "you're a gem to me" and here is your award!

I'm passing this award on to two bloggers, who I may or may not have, a small girl crush on:

Summer @ B is for Brown (She shares my love of the SEC and the dude.)

My Husband Grows Cotton (A fellow speechie, who also has a farmboy!)

Thanks again Southern Savvy!

xoxo

Pumpkins Galore!

It's finally starting to feel like fall here. . .so, bring on the pumpkins! I love pumpkins in the fall. They make me happy. I love pumpkin pie, carving pumpkins, pumpkin spice lattes, the pumpkin candy corn. . .love, love, love pumpkins! Today, I kicked off the season with pumpkin-ginger muffins. They were okay, but what I'm really going for is something close to the pumpkin ginger bread I had at the Hominy Grill in Charleston. DELICIOUS! So, I will continue eating and cooking my way through various versions of pumpkin-ginger bread and pass along the winner to you lovely ladies. I also want to make this pumpkin pasta that I saw Rachel Ray cook one time. I'm not sure how I'm going to feel about it, but I can't resist. I think I'm going to make it tomorrow night along with a pot of chili (just in case). I'll let you know how it goes.
In the meantime. . .

The pumpkin Farmboy and I carved last year (collaboratively), along with TD's pumpkin hat.

I also carved the gator pumpkin last year (sorry B is for Brown, Carolina Girl, and Solar Powered). . .I was so proud! As you can see in the picture in the top right, we are using a dremel tool. We are pretty serious about pumpkin carving in these parts. ;) The "mudflap witch" is Farmboy's. Very classy,I know, but it mad him happy. It's the little things in life, right?

Do you like carving pumpkins?

Want It Wednesday: For the Love of Plaid

When I first saw this Vineyard Vines dress I new that I must have it! Alas, it was more money than I could (was willing?) to pay. But I found an equally cute dress (I think) for a little less thanks to Old Navy. Now I know what you're thinking, they are not even close. I know. I know. But they are both plaid and adorable, and sometimes a girl has to cut some corners where she can. :) I will say this . . . my dress is blue and red, which I think looks even cuter. I am so pumped to wear this dress with some cute brown suede boots. Yay fall! I also bought the shirt at the bottom from Forever 21. Forever 21 can be kind of hit and miss, and I haven't officially seen the shirt yet, but it's 100% cotton, so I figure I can't go wrong. Plus, the back of the shirt has a little feature to cinch in the waist a little. Yay for emphasizing waistlines! Hope y'all are having a great Wednesday. xoxo

Scary Thing Happened Last Night. . .

Something pretty scary happened last night. . .at 11:30 my doorbell rang. I looked out the window of the office and saw a man wearing a yellow shirt and jeans. I thought that it might be Farmboy (I didn't get a really good look), since he had already stopped by unexpectedly once last night and had been wearing a yellow Columbia shirt and jeans. I went to the front door, which has a huge pane of glass in the middle, and looked out. Standing at my door was a man that I didn't recognize. I started to panic. Through the door, the man told me that he was a neighbor (he wasn't!) and that his car had a flat tire. He wanted to borrow a pump to inflate the tire. Being caught off gaurd I yelled something about I couldn't help him because I was alone. . .STUPID STUPID STUPID. It was really uncomfortable because we were literally having a conversation through the glass, and he could see into my house. He could also see how big my visious dog was. I love TD, but scary he is not. After I said no, the man said he was sorry to have bothered me and left. But it gets creepier. I called my parents, my dad is ex-law enforcement, and told them what happened. They told me to call the police department. The dispatcher said I was the only person to call, but they would send someone to look around the neighborhood. I don't know if she was trying to make me feel better, but her comment only made things worse. So I proceded to lock myself in my room with my gun (I'm a country girl and a deputy's daughter. . .I pack heat. . .haha) prepared to shoot at anything that came through that door. My parents came by the house. It took them only 15 minutes to get to there, and they said that there was no car, no guy, no nothing. I had already looked myself, through the window, and saw no sign of a car either. This whole thing just creeps me out. When my dad called the police department again, they said that one other report had come in, but still. . .little too creepy for comfort. Where was his car? Why did he say he was a neighbor? I stayed at my parents last night and I'm a little worried about being home tonight. Guess I'll just hang out with my buddies Smith and Wesson. ;)

Well it's not Friday, but it's been a crazy weekend! As mentioned previously, I got a blog award from one of my favorite new followers, Kristen Sara. If you haven't checked her out yet, you should. She is super sweet, and I love the post she did on fall inspired fashion. . .I'm swooning (despite the 85 degree weather here in beautiful FLA). I am supposed to give it 15 of my new bloggy friends, but I love you all and it's so hard to choose. So, because I'm a rebel without a cause, I want all of my 32 followers to take the award. Just take a moment to check out at least one of my followers and I guarantee (speaking in my best Cajun chef voice) you will not be disappointed.

As promised I'm including some pictures of the house. . .be gentle. . .it's a work in progress. ;)

Farmboy finally planted my trees! The house could use a little more landscaping, but it's a great start.

He planted two Magnolias at the entrance and a St. Luke's Plum near the corner of the house. I'm thinking about two more, so there would be one at each of the three windows, but my mom's worried it will crowd the yard. And of course no house is a home without a Gator flag!

And I finally got curtains up. . .yay! I don't mean to brag, but I installed the tie backs by myself. haha. The curtains are made of a linen-like material and I just love them.

There are a few other things I've done that I can't wait to share, but the couch is calling my name. More to come soon.

xoxo

Eeyore Kinda Month

Ladies,

I am so sorry that I haven't been keeping up with the blog and my bloggy friends like I should. I have to be honest though, I've been feeling a little blue lately and mama always said "if you don't have anything nice to say. . ." Honestly I have nothing to complain about really. I have my health, job security, and of course my wonderful, family and friends. But the green monster of jealousy has reared it's ugly head and I've been feeling a little blue about not having a rock on this finger. . .I don't know where this feeling has come from, but I can't shake it. It's also been weird adjusting to being a "grown-up." I go to work, I come home, do nothing, go to bed, repeat. If I have a big night out it's with my parents . . .woohoo! Farmboy is a workaholic, so I only see him on the weekends and am lucky if I get a ten minute phone conversation at night ::sigh::.

But enough complaining. . .I've done some updates to the house that I will show everyone, I'm starting on a diet tomorrow (because I'm getting larger by the day!), I'm planning my friends baby shower, and am going to be a bridesmaid in February. I promise to give more peppy updates soon. I also received a blog award from a new follower, which I am pumped about (!) and will share tomorrow.

Love y'all <3
